If I could be an animal, I would either be an elephant or a giraffe.
This month to add another activity on to my list of “30 things to do before I am 30”, I went to the Giraffe center in Nairobi. I think Giraffes are underrated and overlooked. They are amongst the kindness, classiest, beautiful, macho and loving animals out there. Once you get to the Centre, its story will touch your heart. The efforts invested into saving the Giraffes and then releasing them into the wild is so selfless. My favorite Giraffe was edd. This handsome 7 years old mammal up there. A polygamist with 3 wives, daisy, kelly, and betty, a father of 2 girls one son and another baby on the way.
After 13 months in the womb, giraffes give birth while standing up and are born at an average height of 6ft tall. One fascinating thing is that the fathers are very often absent in the child’s life if it’s a boy. They are so competitive in having the women’s attention, fathers fight their own kids. Many animals love to be around giraffes because they are very kind to others. They can spot danger miles away and alert everyone to run. They are also very posh and graceful in the way they walk and move. Beautiful. You will learn a lot by simply looking at them. Now I fully understand the hype behind the phrase “You need to go to the Giraffe Center”. I now say it to everyone, you need to go. Lastly, they eat 13 kilos of food in one day! 13 kilos.
